Watervliet is a city with a funny name. But that's because it doesn't come to us in the form of a "traditional" English word. Located in Albany County, Watervliet shares its name with a former town that ultimately became the city we know today. As of the 2010 census, modern Watervliet was home to 10,254 residents. You can find it situated directly north of Albany, and its neighboring town, Colonie, also borders it. Due to the presence of the Watervliet Arsenal, the city has the nickname the "Arsenal City." The armory itself was founded back in 1813.
For anyone and everyone living in Watervliet, owning an army recognition ring is particularly special. After all, the Arsenal campus itself played a crucial role in the War of 1812. Even today, more than two hundred years later, it remains in operation. Without it, the manufacturing of large-caliber cannons would grind to a halt. Although today the War of 1812 is overshadowed by numerous other military conflicts that redefined the nation's history, without that victory, there might not even be the USA as we know it.
The Army also runs the Benet Laboratories from the Arsenal’s grounds. The laboratories themselves are an integral part of the US Army’s Combat Capabilities Development Command Armaments Center. If it didn’t exist, the design, development, engineering, and production of assets such as cannons, mortars, and recoilless rifles wouldn’t be as advanced as they are. Tank gun mounts, turret components, and munition handling weapons are produced and tested here as well. What does all of this mean for you? Even as an Army scientist, you play an instrumental role in preparing the Army to face the operational challenges of the future, in battle or not!
Army recruiters looking for beautiful rings should also note how important they are in Watervliet's nearby areas. For one thing, the headquarters of the United States Army Recruiting Battalion Albany is located here. Previously, its premises were on Wolf Road. In addition, Recruiting Station Albany, which serves as the headquarters of the United States Marine Corps recruiting station, is on the grounds as well.
